I mentioned last week that I had a chance to visit a couple of my favorite stores not too long ago. My first stop was HomeGoods and my 2nd was World Market!

World Market has some really cute, affordable options for decorating your home and they’re not afraid to use color! Let’s see what I found on my most recent trip…

I was totally in love with this print..the colors and typography had me at “grilled peaches..” How fun would it be in a kitchen?!

This little turtle magnifying glass is definitely my kind of tchotchke..he would look pretty cute on the top of a pretty stack of books.

I have a love for faux taxidermy (as evidenced by the ram and rhino in my entryway) so this paper mache giraffe totally spoke to me. He said, “Take me home. Let’s be friends.”

World Market has a really awesome selection of party goods like wrapping paper and gift bags. Just look at all the pretty colors!

I fell in loooove with this little butterfly box. The colors are just delicious :)

Doesn’t this bed look so cozy?! I’ve always loved the look of daybeds, and this one just looked so inviting!

I thought this colorful garden stool was a nice break from the traditionally solid-colored ones I usually see. It could definitely add a nice touch to a neutral patio!

I loved the look and shape of this extra-tall headboard and I think it would be easy enough to DIY if you had the right tools!

This patchwork pillow totally stole my heart. Doesn’t it look like it was handmade with love?! It would be so sweet in a little girls room.

I must be developing some kind of affinity for turtles because this little dish caught my eye as well. I think it would be cute in a bathroom holding some pretty decorative soaps.

Lastly, I was pleasantly surprised to see that World Market also sells chalkboard labels for all those random containers floating around in your pantry. I love all the fun shapes!

Have any of you done any shopping lately? Do you love World Market like me? And can you believe I didn’t buy anything?!?

Last week, I got the chance to do some window shopping at some of my favorite stores, so I thought I’d let you in on a few of my favorite finds! I didn’t end up getting anything, but it’s always fun to browse and get ideas! First stop, HomeGoods. Is there anybody that doesn’t love that place? Oh, wait, I know…my husband :)

I was first greeted by this pretty console table. This one in particular caught my eye because it was super long and narrow, and I’ve been looking for something like that for our bedroom. Alas, I left without it.

This lamp shade caught my eye, mainly because it would work beautifully on our living room. I loved the fun pattern, and I think it was $25, which isn’t too bad.

I love the inky blue color of this lamp base..the fish aren’t necessarily my thing, but I could see it working in the right room!

This one I regret not getting. I love the blue-green glass, and it was huge. It’s hard to tell in this photo, but this thing was a good 3 feet tall. AND it was only $20…wahhhh, I’m having non-buyer’s remorse :(

This driftwood fish would be so pretty on a beachy mantel. The texture is awesome. $20, I think.

If I had a little girl, I would’ve snapped this up in a second. In fact, I may go back and do it anyway (and by doing so, I will probably jinx myself into having all boys). This basket stood about 2.5 feet tall and I could just picture it sitting in the corner of a fun bedroom or playroom to corral clothes or toys. Sigh. And, if I remember correctly, it was pretty reasonably priced..I’m thinking somewhere around $30.

The pattern on this lantern was so pretty, and it was painted blue on the inside which would probably be so pretty with a candle glowing out of it. I also thought it would be pretty turned into a light fixture, which coincidentally enough, Mandi just posted a tutorial showing how to do this!

I thought the shape of this piece was really unique and it could be fun as a terrarium or a lantern with some pretty candles inside. It was $25.

One thing you can always count on HomeGoods for: ceramic animals of all varieties. This ram head was very masculine looking, but I wasn’t loving the crackle finish. I would probably spray him with a charcoal gray or navy.

This bone tray was LARGE (probably 2.5′ x 1.5′) and super heavy. It was in the clearance section, but was still $70 (originally $130) so a little out of my price range. I do love it , though and we could’ve been best friends.

I thought these baskets were really cool, it’s actually a grouping of three that are all attached and would look awesome hanging on a wall!

I loved the damask-like pattern on this rug, and the colors were very nice!

I also love the greek key pattern on this rug, and it was a really soft lavender color. Could be really pretty in a light, airy little girls room!

It’s hard to tell in this photo, but this mirror had some really awesome texture to it, almost like jute. I’ve been on the hunt for a nice full length mirror for a our bedroom, but this one was out of my price range if I remember correctly.

So those are the things that caught my eye! Anyone else done any window shopping lately? Or experience non-buyers remorse like me??

Happy Monday, lemon-droppers! Party season is officially here for the Parnell household. We had 5 to attend on Saturday alone! So it was a very busy day for us, but I did manage to sneak in a couple hours of yard sale-ing on Saturday morning and I walked away with a couple new things!

First up: two nice wooden chairs for….wait for it…6 bucks!! No, not $6/each…$6 for both! I’m a sucker for chairs, so of course I couldn’t pass these guys up! We frequently have large groups of people over so in my book, more chairs = happiness. I’m thinking of keeping these guys on our back patio..JP and I decided to spruce it up as an early anniversary present to ourselves, so be on the lookout for updates!

I think I’ll paint them white (or maybe black..oooh, that could be chic!) but dip the bottom of the legs in a bright, fun color! Now that I really think about it, there are lots of fun color combos I could try…hmmm.

I picked up this cute little floral painting for fiddy cent. I’ve been dying to bring that red/coral-y color into my house so when I locked eyes on this little beauty, I was smitten! And the gold frame? Psh. Fabulous. Methinks this will find a place on the gallery wall I mentioned doing on our staircase.

These next two things are not from yard sales..I actually picked them both up at Home Goods when we went down to Indy last weekend for Memorial Day.

Don’t mind the unruly cords and the table that desperately needs dusting. Just keepin’ it real.

I got this lovely little sea urchin lamp for $30. I’m really digging the short, squatty shape. It fits perfect on the table under our TV. Previously, I had some trouble trying to find something that was short enough not to block the TV. This little guy is just what the lamp doctor ordered!

I also picked up this wire magazine rack for $30 (it could also be a super adorable book holder in a kids room). It fits perfectly in our guest bath! So far, we haven’t done anything to that room except hang a shower curtain and throw down a rug. It may be time to fix it up!

Anyone else score some good garage sale finds this weekend? And tell me the truth, how much do you love Home Goods?

Last Friday night (I can’t type that without breaking out into that stinkin’ Katy Perry song), JP had to attend a wedding rehearsal at our church for a wedding he performed on Saturday. Seeing as our church is a few hundred yards from our Super Target (which is basically heaven on earth..oh the irony), I decided to hop over there while I waited for JP to finish up. Big mistake.

I succumbed to Target’s beautiful displays and marketing basically the second I walked in the door. There’s a reason I don’t allow myself to go there very often: I always spend too much money! However, I have to say, this time I tried really hard not to go overboard and I didn’t allow myself to buy anything that wasn’t on sale.

So, ya wanna see what I got?

I snagged this pretty floral embroidered pillow on sale for $25. It goes perfectly with the blue/green color combo I’ve got going on!

When I stumbled upon this pretty white ceramic bowl, I was sure it would be at least $30…but much to my surprise it was on clearance for $8! I snatched the last one :)

I absolutely LOVE browsing the stationary aisle..the pretty designs suck me in like a tractor beam. I picked up this set for $6. The colors go really nicely with what I’ve got going on in the craft room and I think I might frame one of each as art.

Have you guys checked out the dollar section at Target recently? They’ve got some majorly ca-ute stuff! I picked up some colorful gift bags (perfect for those upcoming graduation/Mother’s Day gifts), an adorably bright storage box, and a super cute memo pad all for $1/each. I also grabbed that yellow ceramic planter for $2.50. Can’t beat that!

Oooh, you’re getting a sneak peek of something I’ve yet to reveal..mysterious :)

And yet another sneak peek..can you hearts even take the suspense?!

Is Target like Kryptonite for anyone else out there? My heart says love..my pocketbook says hate.

This past weekend, my sister-in-law and I hit up a couple of my favorite local antique shops and I just wanted to show you guys a little of what caught my eye!

How cute are these benches? I picture them at the foot of the bed in our guest room, recovered in a beautiful fabric. They were $45 a piece..not terrible, but not quite cheap enough for me to scoop them up.

This vintage laundry cart reminded me of one I saw on WUSLU a while back. I would love to have one to hold throw blankets!

I was thisclose to taking this desk home with me. It was $68 and I loved the chalkboard top and simple lines,  but it was kind of shaky so I left it behind.

I’ve always loved papasan chairs, and for $35 this woven one was a great deal!

This retro dining set was super cool. Such a fresh color, and I love all the scrolly detail! The little note on top of the table explained that they had saved the whole set from the trash and were able to strip down the seats to uncover the original fabric! Groovy.

I spent a solid 20 minutes staring at this aluminum chest, trying to figure out how I could use it. It was only $27 and I absolutely LOVE the flower detail on top. I’m thinking you could somehow make a base for it and use it as a coffee table or storage bench?

I’m always attracted to bird cages and I was really digging the size of this one. I think it would be awesome if you could wire it up and use it as a light!

These old wooden lockers were AH-MAZE-ING. They would be so awesome in a mudroom or entryway. And if I had an extra thousand bucks lying around, they would’ve been mine!

GoodNESS this mid century modern sideboard was beautiful. And guess what? It’s coming home with meeee! It was a steal at only $100 and I can’t wait to bring it home with us this weekend!

Have any of you guys done any thrifting lately? Find anything good??
