Shot Through The Heart

Hey guys, I’m still alive!!! First off, let me apologize for my extended absence. After the holidays, I found myself in a bit of a creativity slump. But I’m happy to report that my juices are flowing again, and I’m ready to get back to some fun projects!

I’m visiting one of my favorite photographers today for a little Valentine’s Day mini session and I couldn’t resist the chance to whip up some cute arrow props last night!

It took me all of twenty minutes and cost me nothing. You’ll need the following supplies:

  • dowel rods (whatever size floats your could also use cake pop sticks if you want to make mini-arrows!)
  • white acrylic craft paint or spray paint
  • fabric, felt, twine, etc.
  • hot glue
  • scissors

I started by painting all my dowel rods white. Then I cut some triangles (and various other shapes) out of felt and fabric. Here’s a tip: double your fabric over when you’re cutting out your shapes so that you’ll end up with two identical pieces. Then hot glue your dowel rod in between those matching pieces.

After I glued all my felt and fabric pieces on the ends, I decorated the shaft of the arrows with a couple different things: washi tape and baker’s twine. You could use ribbon, lace, embroidery floss…the possibilities are endless!

It’s as simple as that! This would definitely be a fun craft to do with older kiddos, and if you tie little tags on the arrows, they could hand them out as Valentines!

And if you used non-Valentine-y colors, they would like awesome bunched together in a vase or as a fun grouping on the wall!

OK, I promise I’m going to try and get back to posting more regularly, thank you guys so much for sticking with me!! Happy weekend, all!
