A Touch of Fall

Last night I finally drug out all of my fall things. I haven’t touched my mantel since spring, and it was crying out for a change. It seems like home projects have definitely fallen way down my priority list lately, so it felt good to dust off the ol’ decor chops and change things up.

I didn’t want to go too over the top, so I just worked with things I already had and played around until I was happy.

Several of the items were things I’ve DIY’ed in the past (the antlers, the wreath, the circle garland, which was made for our 2011 fall mantel), and everything else are just things I’ve collected over the past few years.

I’m loving all the brown and golds mixed with the orange and turquoise…not necessarily a traditional fall color palette, but enough to strike my fancy!

{Sidenote: do any of you photographers out there have any tips for better photographing my mantel nook? It never gets direct light at any point of the day so I always get weird shadows. Blah.)
