Greetings from beautiful Colorado! JP and I are on a little getaway this week, but I couldn’t resist dropping in with this post about some quick and easy art I made before we left.

I’m working on a gallery wall for our staircase, but of course I don’t want to go out and spend a lot of money on frames and art. So I dug out a couple of old frames I picked up at the thrift store a while back (for $1/each I think, so technically this project cost $2.) Then I looked around the house for some things I could use as art. Here’s what I ended up with:

{Sorry for the poorly-lit photos..I was taking these at night!}

I grabbed a couple pieces of white cardstock to use as mats and cut them fit inside the frames. For the larger frame, I decided to fill it with some money that I’ve collected from our travels over the last couple of years. It serves as a reminder of some awesome trips, and the money is colorful which is an added bonus. I simply used double sided tape to stick each bill to the piece of cardstock.

Under each bill, I wrote the country it’s from along with the date we visited.

In the smaller frame, I framed a piece of stationary that I actually won in a blog giveaway a year or so ago. The stationary is absolutely adorable, and we all know my love for all things lemon-related! Again, I used double sided tape to attach it to the cardstock.

And that’s all there is to it! Now I have two pieces of unique art that I love just as much as anything I could’ve purchased anywhere else!!

    I also mat and frame cool postcards I find. I started doing this when I bought a couple of beautiful wintery ones and decided I wanted to keep them. So … I framed them.
